Lorenzo's Experiences in Arkansas

When you are so far from your family and friends is when you  really understand the real meaning of "I miss you". We are used to say this expression when you didn't see a person for a day or two, but you say it, not  feeling the real meaning of the word.  During our second week so far from our family, our friend Omaira was celebrating her birthday and I imagine how sad maybe she felt for been without her family in this celebration. For that reason Me and my companions tried to made her fell comfortable during this important day.  We know that maybe we can't replace her real family but actually we are the nearest people to her that can support her; and support us in our sad moments.  Is at this time that you can see who are your real friends.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY OMAIRA

This week was very interesting and I hope that the other weeks that come will be most. This week I learned how to teach reading in class. The professor explained that to teach reading we need to focus in the reading objective separately. If the objective is to understand the reading or if the objective is pronunciation of words and reading pace.  If the objective of the reading is comprehension, it is not necessary to read aloud, but if the objective is pronunciation, the student need to read aloud and is not necessary to ask questions to them. We also used the program ULTIMATE READER that will help us to improve our reading speed and our reading comprehension .  Also I liked to learn different activities that we can develop in class during pre-reading stage, during reading, and after reading. This topic was very helpful to me. 

Hello friends, I am here in my second week in Fayetteville, Arkansas. During this week there were some topics that called me my attention. One of them was the topic about the usage of Bloom's Taxonomy in the creation of objectives. This class helped me to remember that Bloom's taxonomy is a classification system that we can use to define and distinguish different levels of learning in our students. I used to use this list of verbs to create my objectives, using them from any of the columns from the list, but in this class  I learned that I have to begin from the remember column (the bottom) to the create column (the top). Or if I have an advanced group, I can begin from the middle (apply or analyze) to the top (create). Also when we are preparing our objectives we need to remember that our objectives need to be "SMART" S= to be specific M= to be measurable A= to be achievable/attainable R= to be relevant T= to be Timely

Today Monday 15th, we participated in the march commemorating Martin Lutherking's Jr. Birthday. It is very important to remember people like Lutherking Jr. that fought for the equality of rights among people.

Hello friends, my Experiences in Arkansas are very nice and wonderful. I reached Arkansas last Saturday, January 13th at 11:30 p.m. after leave my country at 9:30 a.m.   Actually I am trying to get used to the cold weather, by the way I am here trying to enjoy my educational trip.
