Getting new knowledge

Hello friends, I am here in my second week in Fayetteville, Arkansas. During this week there were some topics that called me my attention. One of them was the topic about the usage of Bloom's Taxonomy in the creation of objectives. This class helped me to remember that Bloom's taxonomy is a classification system that we can use to define and distinguish different levels of learning in our students. I used to use this list of verbs to create my objectives, using them from any of the columns from the list, but in this class  I learned that I have to begin from the remember column (the bottom) to the create column (the top). Or if I have an advanced group, I can begin from the middle (apply or analyze) to the top (create). Also when we are preparing our objectives we need to remember that our objectives need to be "SMART"

  1. S= to be specific
  2. M= to be measurable
  3. A= to be achievable/attainable
  4. R= to be relevant
  5. T= to be Timely

  1. Thank you for explaining how you understood anew how Bloom's taxonomy can be used. One clarification: You never "have to" begin from the bottom; there are many factors that influence how you might want to start. Yet you are correct: The goal is for Ss to move up the taxonomy and be able to create with the language.

Do you find the SMART idea difficult? Perhaps a better question would be this: "What part(s) of SMART do you find easy, and which part(s) do you find difficult?
